audience research - origins

indie was officially used as term in the 1980's influenced by  Alternative rock, new wave,, post-punk  and, garage rock and was started and pushed through by various bands such as the pixies, the swans the smiths etc. this genre or sub genre started in the UK and the us with both country's up and coming bands experimenting with the new style

these styles were brought together to create a very big British trend called the mods which was brought together by a fashion made up of Tailor made coats and high trousers what some people might call "smart" clothing. all in all this genre affected their  audience greatly by creating the mod movement who made them selfs known with their outlandish style, phrases (fashion-obsessed and hedonistic
cult of the hyper-cool) and their now iconic symbol

i think the media industry is very healthy because their yearly sales are dipping as people are becomeing more and more uninterested in physical copy of mags or to getting information from physical things when they can use their phones the magazine industry is dying
the problems i foresee that their is gonna be big problems with starting off as the already big magazines are dipping in sales this will create a very big obstical as people are losing interest in magazines as a whole. people are not interested in physical things when they can get them on the internet. we already have big competition
i am going to produce a magazine with the sub genre of alternitive and indie rock and my biggest competitors are kerrang and NME. NME has taken a serious drop in sales so kerrang is the only big competitor left i plan to overcome them by being more outspoken with the stories i produce and i will try to bring consistently interesting stories to my audience
i picked this sub genre because it is very well established and has a big following. i picked this area because i am somewhat knowledgeable about the genre its self and i already have a front cover in mind
i think bauer would be the right publishing house because it is a well known publishing house and it already produces kerrang and a big producer such as Bauer can push my magazine through quickly
i think my magazine wont generate sales at first because the magazine industry is dipping

      contents page analasis

colour: for the most part all the colours are the same, the constant grey, black and red theme through out the contents page gives the audience a free flowing feel from the magazine. how ever they have gone for a  completely different colour to highlight their main story but kept the familiar red and black from the rest of the page this makes the audience immediately look at the main story as their eyes get drawn to it but the familiar red and black keeps the free flowing feel

the pictures: the main picture is of some one most people know(Nicole Scherzinger) in the picture she is wearing a bikini to make her look "sexy" as she is known as a very attractive woman and this attracts both male and female audiences (the male audiences will be attracted to her so will look at the mag but the female audiences usually will be looking for tips on how to look like her) secondly she is winking and doing the hand sign that is associated with rock and this make the audience feel that she has attitude  which give her a more dominant presence on the mag
the second picture is another "sexy" picture to attract both audiences but is smaller. this picture is to show a front cover with Nicole Scherzinger on it  saying to cat showing she is the most popular at the moment.

structure: the structure of this contents page used to be unconventional (not traditional) as this page structure has become more and more common in magazines for being different than the original page structure. this structure causes the audience to to look at the picture straight away as it is on the left side of the page and directly in your line of sight.the story's are simple which is a good thing as the audience is not over whelmed or confused at all with every thing else that is going on in the page. main story is completely put in a different position on purpose to make the audience feel that this story is different to all the others
